Issues to deal with as you age

August 31st, 2009 by

Being able to live during the 21st century has given a person the ability to enjoy the many medical advances. One of the results of that is longer lifespans.  More and more people are living longer lives. For quite a few that do live longer, they still remain quite active. But for a few they will need a little bit more care.

For most seniors when it comes to care people think of nursing homes. But there is a different choice.  I would like to present that option and benefits from my experience running my own home health care Coronado company.

So that other way is to go with a home health care agency.Sure, for a few seniors they will require that extra care and attention.Maybe it could be caused by medical conditions.Or it can be for physical limitations of some sort.  But for some, they don’t need a nursing home. They don’t really require that 24 hour service.  It is to those aging seniors that a senior home care La Mesa agency like mine can help.

A senior home care agency allows the senior the choice of getting specialized attention yet still stay at home.  But it still gives them the ability to stay in their homes. For a lot of people this will be a big benefit. They will not have to give up the freedoms they enjoy.  They still feel independant.  And they still get to be close to family and friends.

It enjoys all these benefits yet still allows someone to care for them. They can have the benefit of somebody there to complete all the important tasks.Things to do that might give someone that is getting older a hard time to finish.  Tasks that might be harder to remember as someone gets older.  That is what a home health care services La Jolla agency can do.

So when it comes time to think of what type of care you or your loved ones need.If it is a possibility, think of using a senior home care company to get the important things taken care of. This gives them the opportunity to still stay at home yet enjoy the many benefits still.

How Do You Know If Your Gums Need Help?

In this day and age, beauty really does matter and beauty often denotes health. The same thoughts can be applied to the gums. If you want beautiful gums, then they will obviously need to be healthy. How do you know if your gums are healthy? Well, really, that does not require a scientist – You should confirm with your dentist but here are the basics: You can determine this by examining them yourself. When you look at your gums in the mirror, do they look pink and not inflamed? Are your teeth clean and visually healthy? Do you make sure you get the plaque off of them every day? If so, then chances are, you have healthy gums. Here are some signs of unhealthy gums to watch out for.

Catching gum disease at an early stage is a great idea. At an early stage of gum disease, you will have tender, red and swollen gums. When you brush them with a toothbrush or floss them, they will bleed easily. You see, healthy gums never bleed when you regularly floss and brush them. At this stage, a hydro-floss might be helpful to you.

Generally speaking, gingivitis is not painful, so you may not notice any symptoms are present, which means you will not often catch it early for treatment. If you do not get this disease treated, then it is only going to progress forward. With gum disease often comes bad breath, try aktiv k-12  to defeat that.

When you have advanced gum disease, you may have bad breath no matter what you do. You could even end up losing your teeth. You may also have gums pulling away or receding from your teeth. Appropriate dental care is always important.

Scott Wells recommends the book: What You Should Know about Gum Disease for those seeking more information on this topic. ISBN: 978-0981485508

How you can fix a troubling relationship

August 29th, 2009 by

One of the great things we experience in our lifetimes is the relationships we have.  From experiencing family relationships to love relationships it is wonderful. But a few times good relationships can turn bad. What used to be something of great happiness can now become so painful and sorrowful.

I have seen this first hand helping people in couples therapy in San Diego. Wat had once been a very promising relationship is now a battleground.  What was once looking like a bright future now is so bleak.  What happened and what can be done to change it?

That is a major question and one that is going to be hard to address.Every struggling relationship will have different sets of circumstance.  But my experience doing marriage counseling San Diego has shown me there are methods you can use to bring out good solutions.

One of the things I help them with is a safe environment. Most of the times when you try and address the problems at your house it just won’t work.By proving a safe environment for them they are able to feel comfortable and safe which allows them work things out easier.

Another benefit for the couple is that extra person will be another ear to hear them out.But not just any ear but one that doesn’t take sides. An ear that is able to hear the issues and talk about them impartially.  Doing that can work wonders. That third person can mean the difference because they can approach the issue without being heated. When a couple is in the heat of the argument and they try to fix it, it usually won’t work.

Another thing to learn that can help the couple greatly is teaching them the benefits of listening to each other.  In my practice as a marriage counselor in San Diego, I help them develop these skills. These skills teaches them how to listen to each other completely rather than being the one to always win their argument.

By implementing this, they are more able to tackle the issues that face them. Doing these few things in a rocky relationship can work wonders.  I have seen it first hand as a marriage counselor.

Reasons for choosing home care

August 28th, 2009 by

There are many different times and seasons in people’s lives. There are those seasons where we live life carefree. There is those years of our adult life when we have more responsibilities. Then there are those great times of our life that are the senior years. It is those senior years I would
like to take a look at.Mainly, when a person is at that stage when they are unable to take care of themselves.

It is in this time period that a family has 3 options to look at.  This is going to be perspective I have gained from running my own home health care services Coronado company.

First option is the adult kids taking care of them. This would be the best option.  But sometimes the adult kids just can’t do it.Whether it is because of conflicts with a job or family issues.  Well if that is the case, there are 2 other options.

Those options are nursing homes or homecare such as my home health care Escondido company.

Nursing homes may be necessary for those times when a person may have health issues and aren’t able to care for themselves. This is someone in need of round the clock medical care. But if someone is not in that time of their life, they won’t need to go to a nursing home. And from the people I have dealt with, they don’t want to.Unfortunately, a lot of people are of the opinion that is the only choice.

Well if they are forced into something like that, an older person might feel as if they have no more independance. They for all intents and purposes have lost some freedom. They have just lost a lot of familiar things.

But if a person chooses a senior home care agency such as my home care agency San Diego company, they can keep all of those benefits.Said another way they can experience their older years yet still have independance and comfort.

Home health care offers them the ability to stay at home. While ensuring that those needs they can’t do themselves are still handled properly.

It is a wonderful arrangement.  They can have qualified nursing assistant or caregiver oversee all of their needs.Picking a good home health care company can give the senior a compassionate and ethical experience they will appreciate.

So when you aer searching for the care of loved ones or parents, locating a good home care agency might be just what you are looking for.I know by my experiences I have gone through with my own home care company.

Controlling Diabetes, Gum Disease and Sugar Can Impact Health Insurance Costs…

August 27th, 2009 by

Is there a connection between diabetes and gum disease? The simplest answer is yes. However, nothing is ever so simple and it could pay to take a closer look at this potentially threatening link. By themselves, gum disease and diabetes are already troublesome. Having one can make the other worse, and there is truly no need to allow that to happen.

A special oxygenated mouthwash called ‘therabreath‘ may be helpful. This mouthwash is also pH balanced

Diabetic control is one reason for this connection. Often times, gum disease can complicate diabetes and vice-versa.

There is an essential oil blend called ‘oramd‘ that might be helpful. Essential oils of spearmint, peppermint and almond are believed to have anti microbial qualities.

However, if you have diabetes but have strong control over your blood sugar, you are in significantly better shape. Studies show that you will be no more at risk for periodontal disease than someone who does not have diabetes.

Another diabetic complication is thicker blood vessels. This is yet another complication which can make you more at risk for getting periodontal disease. Basically, thicker blood vessels makes it more difficult for nutrients to flow in and harmful waste products to flow out. The direct result of this is the inability of the gum tissue surrounding your teeth to fight off infection.

Bacteria causes gum disease in the first place. Bacteria like sugar – especially glucose. Of course, if you have diabetes, you see the problem here. The bacteria which can cause gum disease will be attracted to the glucose in your body.

Many people have made their own oxygenated mouthwashes at home utilizing the power of Home ozonators

Smoking increases the risk of getting gum disease when you have diabetes as well. A smoker who has diabetes is many times more likely to get gum disease than a smoker without diabetes.

What could be done to break this link? Take your medication, in the case of thickening vessels. Maintain strong, solid control of your blood sugar. Do not smoke. Visit your dentist regularly. Of course, brush twice a day and floss.
